Earwigs are generally harmless, but I prefer not to find them around my home. This year, their numbers seem to have increased, especially in my garden. If you’re noticing more earwigs near your house or outdoor areas, there’s an easy fix. Facebook user Alicia Alexander shared a simple method to deal with them. She placed a shallow bowl filled with half a cup of olive oil in her backyard. Within 24 hours, the bowl was filled with earwigs. After 36 hours, even more had gathered. It appears the earwigs are attracted to the olive oil, climb in, and can’t escape. While earwigs are on the rise, their presence might indicate rotting wood, which they’re drawn to. Always check your home’s structure, especially wooden parts. This hack may be the solution!
